> Explore the Mines of Moria
Posted by WheelerCub - 03-17-08 11:27 - 10 comments
The game looks even more stunning since I got a computer that can run DirectX10 and the content updates have been amazing. But with a full expansion that includes two new character classes, the Mines of Moria, and legendary weapons that level up with your character, I'm even more excited.

Lord of the Rings Onliners will soon be able to explore Moria, the ex-capital city of the dwarves. Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria will be the second chapter in the massively multiplayer online game based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy series, and is due for release in autumn.

This first retail expansion pack will let gamers explore the underground caverns, tunnels, mines, and chambers of Moria, in northwestern Middle-earth. There will be hundreds of new quests for players to undertake, along with an increased level cap up to level 60. The new level cap brings with it new traits, virtues, skills, and class quests.

There will be six new books in Mines of Moria, which is described as "the beginning of volume II of the LOTRO," in which there will be events such as the release of Durin's Bane, a battle with the Watcher, and the option to aid Galadriel.

The crafting system will also be expanded, and players will be able to craft more-powerful items. They will also be able to forge legendary items that will level up along with the player and can be customised with virtues, runic legacies, and personalising titles, as well as for use in forming fables.

Last but not least, Mines of Moria will add two new classes to the game, the Rune Keeper and the Warden.

Ex-teen heartthrob joins Tekken cast

After years of silence surrounding the project, the film adaptation of Tekken appears to be inching closer to the megaplex.

A teaser poster for the film surfaced in October, followed by a Variety report placing Dwight Little, director of Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, Steven Seagal's Marked for Death, and Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home, in the director's chair.

Now the film apparently has an actor attached to it as well. In a post on the fan forums of the official Web site of actor Luke Goss (above), an administrator has posted the news that Goss just signed on to play the part of British boxer Steve Fox (below), who joined the series cast in Tekken 4.

Goss rose to prominence in the mid-'80s as one-third of the British pop group Bros. After the band broke up, he turned to acting, and has since appeared in films like Blade II and Charlie.

He is also set to appear later this year in Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Thought some of you might like that.

Just read this article on Drug Resistant Staph which can be transmitted through anal sex. Why the media doesn't understand that it's anal sex and not gay anal sex which transmits diseases will always remain a mystery. Moral of the story: be safe and wash your bottom!

> CD Exchange - Year 5
Posted by Lysander - 01-7-08 12:29 - 67 comments
Hello all.

The start of the year means that the CD Exchange is back. I have added a poll this year to see how people feel about it. Previously, we have kept the cost down a bit by not having everyone get all of the CDs in the exchange. I am open to looking at having everyone get one copy of the CDs in the exchange, but there would be more of a cost involved. You would have to create one CD for everyone in the exchange (excluding yourself) and factor that the shipping cost would be about a $1 per CD. So if we had 15 people participate, you are looking at about $15 to cover shipping.

I am setting the deadline of Feb 18th, this year.

Deadline: February 18th - mark your calendars, allow 5 days for shipping CDs.

PLEASE if you are wanting to join in this year get your CDs to me BY THE 18th of February. It is really hard to hold CDs and make sure people get things when they trickle in after the deadline. Like REALLY HARD. You have over a month if you want to be in this so get started now. Please. Organization of late comers is really very time consuming and frustrating.

Theme: No themes, like always. You make the CD you want to make.

What to include:

When making your CD, please make sure that you mark your CD clearly. Put your name, or mix name on the CD its self. The case you chose is up to you, artwork on the CD is optional. You need to include a song list with the artist names with your CD.

When you mail them to me, make sure that you include in the package on a sheet of paper the following:
Your Real Name
Your Forum Name
Your Return address where you can receive a package.

Do not post any addresses in this thread please. I will PM everyone who is interested my address to mail things to.

The cut off for signing up for this years exchange will be January 31st. I will stop accepting names after that, and that will give plenty of time to make the CDs and mail them to me.

Anyone in the world is eligible, I have shipped to far off lands in previous exchanges, so don't worry about that.

I think that is all for now, if you have questions, let me know. Look at the previous years threads for ideas on how this works.

Thanks all.

So here are the questions I emailed. I only had a few people respond, so I will probably just post the questions next and put them in a thread for people to answer as they wish.

1) You are handed a bunch of cash and told to take some movie and make it into a game. What movie do you pick? What genre would it be?
2) Where do all the washed up video game mascots go after being ignored for so long? (Alex Kidd is one example of a washed up mascot)
3) You are contacted by Nintendo to add a character and weapon to Smash Brothers, who and what do you pick?
4) If you could change one event in Video Game history what would it be and why?
5) Finally... You die and on your way to heaven, or so you thought. Upon reaching the pearly gates you are stopped. They tell you "I'm sorry you can't go in. You killed all those _________ in the game ________________ and now you are being put into their world for the next 10000 years for all the suffering you have caused them!" What did you kill and in what game? What would be the punishment you would have to suffer for 10000 years?

Borgbear

1)The movie that I would turn into a game would be..The Brady Bunch Movie. All the kids will be undercover agents. They would get all of their gadgets from Alice. Everything from a steel cutting mixer with super jecting beaters to bullet proof aprons. You know Greg loves Alice's, 9 person super explosive meatloaf bombs. Carol will design all the groovy costumes for them. Mike, of course, will design the headquarters. Cousin Oliver will be the evil genius who will try to stop them. Last, but not least, Tiger the dog will be their mentor.

2) All washed up video game mascots, will go on tv as reality stars. Of course it would be on VH-1 where all washed up celebrities end up. They would live in a house and do different tasks and the winner will get to star in an updated version of a hot game.
First task- Smashing Crates and hording fruits.
Second task- Find the right treasure chest with the gold coins in it.
Third task- Jumping from off centered platforms, to find the elusive Easter Egg. Hope they don't end up in the hot lava.

Then Banjoo Kazooie will get drunk off of moonshine and punch Crash Bandicoot. Maximo keeps running around the house with just his boxers on and his junk hanging out of the front. Duke Nukem would be the trouble maker in the house.

3)The Tiny Prince from Katamari Damacy. He already have the super dash attack. And his powerup would be the Katamari ball of Death. He would roll up is opponents in it.

4)I would change the history of Sega Dreamcast console. It went away before its time.

5)I can gladly say that I've killed over 110,000 Gundam robots in Dynasty Warrior:Gundam (have the achievement for it). And my punishment would be standing around, against a wall walking forward forever. OOHH, I would sometime turn around and run right into a saber sword, only to respawn against the wall, again.

Lysander

1)Chrono Trigger. It would have to be fantasy with a little bit of western thrown in. Ryan Reynolds as Chrono, Anne Hathaway as Lucca and Kristin Chenowith as Marle.

2)Next to the island of Misfit Toys is the Island of forgotten Mascots. In the uncut directors version of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Rudolph and Hermie land on that island first, but are unable to get the characters to stop obsessing about power ups and extra lives. It was a pretty strong anti-drug message that the networks felt took away a bit from the whole Christmas feel.

3)That somehow isn't already in the game? Is there anyone left? Let's put in Mr. Mosquito and his built in blood stinger!

4)Madden making a game. Simply because I feel that sports have no place in the video game world. After all, they are already a game.

5) Westboro Church members in the game "Do the world a favor". I would have to listen to their inane ramblings while standing outside some funeral in a small backwater town in like Missouri.

> Team In Training - I need y'all's help
Posted by Xian - 07-9-07 10:05 - 4 comments
Hey folks,

This summer my boyfriend and I decided to join the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training (TNT). Team in Training is a program that trains ordinary people to become endurance athletes in exchange for fundraising dollars that will be spent on research, patient care, and patient & family support for people suffering from a blood cancer. We will be training for the Nike Women’s half-marathon being held in San Francisco on October 21, 2007. We have several friends who have recently participated in Team In Training triathlons and marathons and had nothing but positive things to say about it. Having seen them go through the program we can say that it has had nothing but positive repercussions on both their physical and mental health.

Beyond this personal desire for physical fitness, however, is the more selfless motive of raising money to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. The problem of cancer has struck home very recently. In mid-May, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer and malignant tumors in his lungs and brain that did not make themselves known until they had progressed beyond what current medical science is capable of treating. I lost him, Richard Eugene Walters, in mid-June, and went to his memorial service on the 30th.

In his honor, we have taken on the task of raising as much money as we can to help fund the research and treatment of cancer so that future families will hopefully be able to avoid such tragedies in their lives. There are many people currently living with and fighting these diseases and to them your donation means more time to live. If you can, make a donation today, help further the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission, and put an end to deaths caused by cancer.

We will be fundraising up until the event but have set a goal of raising $6,300 by July 27th. It is an ambitious goal, but for this cause we hope to receive enough support from our friends and family to reach it. Please forward this message to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well!

Christian Walters & Ray Osornio

To donate electronically, we each have a webpage, linked below:

If you would prefer another method, send me a PM and we'll see what we can arrange.

No!!! Bob Clark (and son, 24yo) was killed in a car wreck. For insurance purposes, he was not at fault.

Link to CNN news.

I hope the murderer shoots his eyes out with his own Red Rider!

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- A modified marquee in Atlantic Beach has been drawing some attention. "Hoohaa" replaced a word in the title of a play after a driver complained about finding the previous wording offensive.

NOTES:
- Still working on finding updates to the skins. Major updates like this recent one mean that people have a lot of work to do when updating skins.
- Still working on finding a clean solution to limiting BBCode in signatures. Thanks for being patient.

Hey all,

It is almost that time again, for the annual Gamers Ex CD exchange. I will post all of the details in a few weeks, like always, but this is just to let you know and get you to start thinking.

http://gamers.experimentations.org/forums/...;hl=CD+exchange

That is the thread for the 3rd annual exchange so you can get a better idea of what this all is.

I am shooting for a deadline of the end of Feb for all the CDs cuz I have time off and can do the mailings then.

I won't be home till after the New Year so board mods and skins won't be touched till then. Sorry for the delay.

Also, I turned off the BBCode in the sigs to prevent the end of the world (or just images and wacky sigs in general). This is a temporary measure until I can find a mod that will let me specify just how much sigs can be customized. In general we will be allowing bold text and links as originally stated in the rules. Images, formating, HUGE sigs and colors will not be allowed. Capiche? Molto bene.
